Sean Newcomb started strong in game 1 but fell apart in the 4th inning, finishing with 3 2/3 innings, allowing 5 runs on 4 hits and 4 walks, striking out 6 as Mississippi lost 6-4. Dustin Peterson had a home run and two singles. Carlos Franco had a double and two singles. Jake Schrader had two singles. Mel Rojas had a single and a walk. Matt Lipka stole his 13th base of the season.

In game 2, Chris Ellis had a solid start, albeit struggling for consistency as Mississippi won 4-1. Ellis went 6 innings, allowing a run on 5 hits and 4 walks, striking out 6.
