Atlanta Braves Draft Review – Day 2

More from Tomahawk Take

More brief reports going forward here:

Pick #80 – Drew Harrington, LHP, Louisville – Harrington doesn’t have blazing fastball, but he really can manipulate his fastball, and he pairs it with a very good slider. He’s got a good build and could be a guy the Braves teach a change to become a solid starter.

Pick #109 – Bryse Wilson, RHP, North Carolina HS – Very good athlete, high velocity sinking fastball.

Pick #139 – Jeremy Walker, RHP, Gardner-Webb – Projection pick with a 6’5 frame and 95 MPH fastball that’s still picking up velocity.

Pick #169 – Matthew Gonzalez, IF, Georgia Tech – Very good contact hitter that profiles as a utility man, but added more power this season and could be intriguing. I’d imagine that he’s going to be a guy pushed to Danville and jumped forward in the system quickly due to his advanced contact ability, and if he hits for power, he could work into an every day role.

Pick #199 – J.B. Moss, OF, Texas A&M – Senior sign outfielder with some contact skills.

Pick #229 – Taylor Hyssong, LHP, UNC-Wilmington – Lefty reliever way off the board senior sign.

Pick #259 – Tyler Neslony, OF, Texas Tech – Intriguing senior bat with present gap power and projectable HR power.

Pick #289 – Marcus Mooney, IF, South Carolina – Grinder type that gets on base and plays hard at all times.
