Round 12: Brandon Steven White, RHP, R/R, Lander University (SC) , Jr. , 6’2″ 215lbs, 12/21/94 (@brandonwhte01)

According to the Lander website the Chapin, S.C. native was a 3rd-team D2CCA All-American,1st-team All-Southeast Region selection and named first-team All-Peach Belt this year. He set a Lander single-season record his freshman year with 29 appearances and tied their save record with 12 saves earning him Peach Belt Conference Freshman of the Year honors.

This season he threw 40 1/3 innings striking out 60, walking 14 while allowing just 29 hits – an 1.12 ERA and an opponents batting average of .192 – and broke both records by appearing in 33 games and saving 14.

BA says White “has a sturdy, 6-foot-2, 210-pound frame with wide shoulders and a thick trunk”. They call him athletic and rate his arm speed a 60.

Like Rowland he throws form a low three-quarters slot with a long arm action and a 91-92 fastball that MLB Pipeline says can touch 94.   He features a mid-eighties cutter BA ($) called “outstanding” that “looked like his fastball. . .(with) extremely late slicing action down and to the glove side, generating swings over the top of the ball.”  They also say both pitches play up – looks faster to hitters – because he “gets plenty of extension.”

Round 13: Brandon Michael White, RHP, R/R, Davenport University, 5S, 6’3″ 205lbs, 12/06/92

Our second Brandon white hails from Chicago Illinois. According to the Davenport University web site he is the first Panther ever selected in the MLB draft.  They call him a hard throwing right-handed starting pitcher with a low 90s fastball and a sharp breaking ball. That seems validated buy his 2.36 ERA in 61 IP as he struck out 64 and walked just 12.

It will be very cool if we can have both Michael White’s in the pen at the same time; sort of a “Jones Boys” redux,

Round 14: Ramon Osuna Sanchez, 1B, L/R, Walters State CC, J2, 6’3″ 240lbs, 06/27/95

Sanchez was a prolific hitter for Walters state this year. In 69 games hit delivered 72 hits including 26 doubles, 3 triples and 13 home runs driving in 59 OPR along the way. He finished with .402/.467/.687/1.154 that included a 11.4% walk rate, a 16.5% K rate and a 1.3 K/BB. He also stole 12 bases in 15 attempts

The Braves wanted him listed as a first baseman but Sanchez played the outfield for Walters this season
