The Targets

But that leads to another thought:  the Red Sox are also in the market for another reliever… and Carfado mentions Arodys Vizcaino, though neglects to connect the dots with Boston.

More from Tomahawk Take

  • If I’m Coppolella and Boston is calling, then I ask for both Swihart and Moncada while offering Teheran and Vizcaino.  If Boston requires another notable pitching prospect to make that happen, then I’d do it for the sake of having a future infield of Swanson (3B), Albies (SS), and Moncada (2B) along with Swihart at catcher… if he can do that.
  • If I’m Coppolella and Texas is calling, then I ask for Gallo.
  • If I’m Coppolella and Houston is calling, then I ask for George Springer.

Big demands.  Would any of these teams answer acquiesce?

We don’t know… but only one team has to.

The Upshot

I trust John Coppolella to wrest the best for the Braves out of a deal.  There are a few almost-major-league-ready bats out there that can be had.  In case you haven’t noticed, the run production at the major league level has been 2, 6 (in a blowout), 0, 2, 0, 5, 0, 5, 3, 7, 4, 2, 2, 1, 0, 2 in their last 16 games.

41 runs in 16 games.

The Braves need bats.  They have one asset that can fill that need quickly – without having to wait for a draftee to develop or for an International Market prospect to get old enough to begin shaving.

I don’t really want to beat a dead horse here… especially since that horse is still alive and kicking.  But this rumor isn’t dying.

Sell off Julio Teheran, Coppy.  When the time is right, just do it.  I’ll be okay with that.
