Picking and grinning

Adding the 76th pick of the draft means that the Braves once again have five picks in the first 100; 3.40.44.76 and 80, They will also add about about $839 to the draft pool.

General Manager John Coppolella told David O’Brien of the AJC that they valued the extra draft pick highly.

"“We are building for the future, and pick 76 fits within our plan,” Braves general manager John Coppolella said. “We recognize value not only in terms of the potential player we select, but also in the flexibility provided with added bonus-pool money.”"

That’s A Wrap

The pitchers the Braves surrendered to Baltimore weren’t in their top 30 prospect list but both had been pretty good so far this year.

Next: Speaking of the Draft

The obvious hope is that the Braves can an extra impact player at 76 and make the cost worth while.

The only thing that I wish they had done was include Erick Aybar in the trade, Baltimore’s J.J.Hardy is out for a while injured and they have Paul Janish filling in. What? A guy can dream can’t he?
