Atlanta Braves Top 100 Prospects Scouting Report: 15. Max Fried
Future Outlook
Fried’s stuff from the left side is absolutely elite, and even with his control still coming back to him after the surgery, he is walking 12% of hitters, which is less than guys like Yordano Ventura and Francisco Liriano and Felix Hernandez are putting up this season, but yet he’s striking out more than any of those three by percentage right now. As his control gets better, I truly believe his walk and strikeout numbers both get better.
Fried is a guy that I would be very surprised to see finish the season in Rome. The funny part is that I assumed he would be a quick mover to open a spot for Kolby Allard to enter the Rome rotation, but I have a feeling Allard’s draft mate Mike Soroka may be the first guy moving up from Rome to Carolina. Fried should certainly finish the season there, however.

I honestly believe Fried is the best lefty in the Braves system, and that’s saying something in a system with Sean Newcomb and Kolby Allard as well. If you have a chance to see Fried on milb.tv, take the time to do so, it will be great time.
