Andrew Simon recognized  the performance Braves No. 19 prospect Ricardo Sanchez last Wednesday when he threw five innings of three hit ball striking out five and walking one. The 19 year old righty threw 73 pitches, 42 for strikes –  five were whiffs – and dropped his ERA to 2.84

Under the radar in this games were Ray-Patrick Didder who at 21 is tied as the second oldest player in the post.  The native of Aruba Bahama come on pretty momma (sorry) went 1-3 and a walk taking his average to .338. By close of business yesterday that was down to .319/.430/.486/.916 including six doubles and three triples.  Third sacker Austin Riley also made his mark going 1-2 with a walk and a run scored.

Braves No. 6 prospect Touki Toussaint had a rough start to the year giving up 15 earned on 19 hits in his first 10 2/3 IP. However he earned a mention by Rosenbaum Thursday when a different Toussaint Touki the mound (sorry couldn’t resist).

In his five innings he threw 58 pitches, 36 for strikes, gave up just two hits, walked one and struck out three while allowing just one run. In addition to the three Ks he coaxed six ground ball outs from the 18 batters he faced.

Under the radar and not mentioned in the prospect performer piece were second baseman Luke Dykstra _ who went 2 for 4 with a stolen base and a run scored raising his average to .292 – and Riley who was once again heavily involved going 2 for 4 with a double and raising his average up to .266. Here’s Riley putting a charge into one back on the 16th.
