Last Chance

Mets’ closer Jeurys Familia came on to try to close it out and was greeted by an opposite field single off the bat of  Kelly Johnson. Erick Aybar as the next pinch hitter out of the dugout but he hit a soft grounder to short that allowed Johnson to move up as he was thrown out at first extending his hitting woes to 4 for his last 45.

Smith hit the first pitch off the end of the bat and was thrown out at first for the second out but Francoeur slapped an opposite field single to score Johnson and bring the Braves within striking distance.

Markakis hit a squibber that the charging walked couldn’t handle and beat it out putting runners on first and second but Castro hit a grounder to second to end the rally and the game.
