2016 Win Totals Posted

MICAH ROBERTS / VEGAS INSIDER.COM, FEB 11, 2016

Ed. Notes:  The first estimated win totals for major league clubs has been posted by VegasInsider.com, and if these are to be believed, then the Atlanta Front Office will have broken a few promises.  Like that “never again” promised after last year’s Summer Swoon.

Admittedly, if the injury bug hits – namely to Freddie Freeman – then there will likely be nowhere to go but down.  While Atlanta has plenty of veteran positional flexibility, they won’t have the means to make up for the lake of offense if Freeman’s wrist doesn’t hold up to the rigors of the regular season.

This Sports betting site pegs the Braves at a major league worst 65 wins… 65 and 97 to be exact, which would be 2 games worse than 2015 and would cement the #1 draft pick for 2017.  Woo hoo.

They pick the Phillies next at 66½ wins (yes, “half wins” exist in this world), with Cincy and Milwaukee coming next in the futility counts at 71 and 71½ wins respectively.

Ouch.

Their guesses are for betting purposes, of course, but it mirrors last years’ results a bit in that the worst teams – by far – are coming from the National League.  The Oakland A’s are picked to be the worst AL club… and at 75½ wins, this still beats 6 NL teams.

Recall a year ago, Vegas books were talking about 73 wins for the Braves.

Moving along…
