SHELBY MILLER TRADED

Pollock is NOT in the deal, per Mark Bowman.

Ender Inciarte is included… and “others” (Bob Nightengale, Joel Sherman).

WOW – LET’S HOPE THIS IS ACCURATE (update:  it is):

This represents an unbelievable haul for Shelby:

  • #1 Overall draft pick from June 2015 (signing bonus $6.5m)
  • Their #3 prospect – a major-league-ready pitcher (1st round pick – 2013; bonus was $1.435m)
  • Inciarte, who can play CF and hit .303 last year.  Only problem?  He hits lefty.  Whatever.
  • Braves also sending LHP Gabe Speier in the deal.  Don’t go looking for him on the prospect charts… he’s not there.

If you’re keeping score, we already had Touki Toussaint, the Arizona 2014 1st rounder ($2.7m signing bonus).

So now Atlanta is in possession of all three of their 1st draft picks over the past 3 years… for which they spent $10.635m.  Wow.

MEANWHILE – BACK TO THE OPRYLAND HOTEL…9pm EST

  • Diamondbacks are now “out” on Mike Leake (duh).  Giants and Cardinals are on the clock.
  • James Wagner of the Washington Post:  “Nats have lost out on 2 of their biggest FA targets so far this winter: Zobrist & O’Day. Still expected to be active on the trade market tho”
  • Jason Heyward said to be looking for a 10-year contract.  After the past couple of hours… he might get it.  And he might get over $200 million.
  • There has been some discussion about Swanson and Ozhaino Albies… both shortstops.  David O’Brien concurs with me:  Albies eventually to second base.
  • Braves projected payroll now stands (on my spreadsheet) at $80.375 million.
  • Chris Davis is said to have an offer from the Orioles on the table for $150 million.
  • Just to make sure everybody knows:  until last year, trades of recent draft picks were not allowed, as clubs had to keep them for a year.  The rule was changed so that they can now be traded after the World Series.  The Trea Turner trade effectively forced the change… so Dansby Swanson is now a Brave.
  • Dodgers now face a decision on Jose FernandezThey are being told (Joe Frisaro) that the price is Urias, Seager, Pederson and 2 more (and probably not B-guys, either).  Will they attempt to match what Arizona has done?
  • I swear it seems like all activity has stopped in Nashville – it’s like everyone is stunned and doesn’t know how to react.  All I’m seeing are trade reactions (AZ just got really, really good – though paid a price… Braves are loaded… Cubs set themselves up nicely… that’s about it).

Oops.

Ten hours ago, this was tweeted by our newest outfielder… in response to the Zack Greinke signing becoming official:

Somebody please go tell him we’re happy to have him?
