Atlanta Braves: More to think about then just this Offseason

We will start the entries tomorrow and will run them through next week, but a few days back I was sent a discussion piece from one of our commenters and would like to place it here to get the ball rolling for the offseason.

Here’s some thoughts from pseudo-name Mustang 6635:

"I feel they may need to try and resign A.J. Pierzynski as he is a proven catcher. If they can resign him to a short term contract he will serve as a great mentor to any young catcher we might have in the wings or can acquire. The outfield? I’d say in order to save the money just go with the minor league prospects we have or if we can pick up a veteran for a short term fix. We all know whether this team does better next year or not we are not expecting any postseason play or further so save the money so as to gear up for the 2017 season and beyond.< The starting pitching this past year wasn’t Tom Glavine, Steve Avery, Greg Maddux, or John Smoltz-like, however the offense was the reason they couldn’t gain confidence and pick up momentum, in my opinion. So unless it’s to try and sell tickets I’m not sure if trying to lock up a big name starter at this point is the best choice here. Bench players and filling those bullpen spots and trying to bring another closer-like reliever along with what we already have to choose from in our farm system would be my biggest focus . Jason Grilli may come back strong or not so strong or maybe the Braves trade him in the offseason for prospects. Whatever is chosen, we need to work on having that stopper once again. Vizcaino could be that guy."
