Martin is 26 now, and was left unprotected by the Braves after the 2014 season, thus subject to the Rule 5 Draft. He was not taken, and subsequently ended up in the Braves’ bullpen early in 2015, pitching 21.2 innings in 21 games (5.40 ERA).
He was eventually designated for assignment and picked up by Oakland. His first American League encounters were not kind, as Cody had a 14.00 ERA over 9 innings (4 game appearances). Control and the long ball were issues there.
Hopefully he’ll be able to regain the form he had at AAA for the Braves – and then make it translate to the majors.
