Mississippi Braves (67-63)

Thursday

Pensacola scored 5 runs in the bottom of the 8th inning off of the Mississippi bullpen to pull off the win in a high-scoring affair, 11-8. Greg Ross started for Mississippi, and he went 5 innings, allowing 4 runs on 5 hits and 4 walks, striking out 3. Rio Ruiz had a double, two singles, and a walk on the day. Emerson Landoni had 2 doubles and a single. KD Kang had a single and his 6th home run of the season. Levi Hyams had a triple and a single. Matt Kennelly had two singles. Mycal Jones had two walks. Kevin Ahrens added a double.

Friday

Lucas Sims had another dominant start as Mississippi defeated Biloxi 7-1 on Friday. Sims went 6 1/3 innings, allowing only an unearned run on 5 hits and 2 walks, striking out 5. Mycal Jones picked up one of the rare feats in baseball as he walked 4 times on the day as the M-Braves drew a total of 12 walks on Biloxi pitching. Levi Hyams had two singles and a walk. Emerson Landoni had a single and two walks. Barrett Kleinknecht had two singles. Steve Rodriguez walked twice. Rio Ruiz was one of the few Braves hitters who didn’t draw a walk, but he did club a no-doubt 3-run home run in the 3rd inning, his 4th of the season. Kevin Ahrens had a walk and a single and stole a base.

Saturday

Mississippi continued to get tremendous pitching from midseason trade acquisitions on Saturday, defeating Biloxi 8-2 behind a strong start from John Gant. Gant ran his record to 4-0 as a member of the M-Braves, hurling 7 innings, allowing only a solo home run to Parker Berberet, scattering 6 hits and striking out 7. After his 4-walk game on Friday, Mycal Jones followed up with 3 walks and 2 stolen bases. KD Kang and Levi Hyams had two singles and a walk each. Barrett Kleinknecht had a double and a single. Rio Ruiz had a double and 3 runs batted in.

Sunday

The Braves attempted a come back on Sunday, scoring 2 runs in the bottom of the 9th before losing 4-3 to Biloxi. Andrew Thurman struggled on the day, throwing 5 innings, allowing 4 runs on 8 hits and 3 walks, striking out 1. Steve Rodriguez had two singles and a walk. Kevin Ahrens had a single and a walk. Eric Garcia had a double.
