Mississippi Braves (26-21)

Thursday

The M-Braves pulled off a win over Pensacola Thursday 4-2. Tyrell Jenkins picked up the win, going 5 innings, allowing 2 runs on 4 hits and 5 walks while striking out 5. The walks are certainly troubling, but he continually found his way out of jams in the game. Rio Ruiz had 2 hits on the day and Corban Joseph added a double. Mallex Smith was on base three times on the day with 2 walks and a single. He did also commit his 3rd error on the year, and he continues to struggle in center field.

Friday

Mississippi came out on top of a 1-0 pitcher’s duel on Friday over Pensacola. Jake Brigham went 8 scoreless innings, allowing 3 hits and striking out 5. Tyler Jones gave up a couple of hits, but he finished out the 9th to pick up his 3rd save. In a pitcher’s duel, not a single Brave had multiple hits or was even on base multiple times in the game, but they squeezed across a run in the bottom of the 8th to win the game, and that’s what matters.

Saturday

Saturday’s game against Pensacola was postponed due to rain.

Sunday

Sunday’s double-header against Pensacola was postponed due to rain and saturated field conditions.
