Carlos Quentin

Quentin was once a sought after corner outfield power bat. He began life as a Diamondback but was traded to the White Sox in 2008.  Between 2008 and 2011 Quentin posted a .257/.352/.505/.857 line for the Pale Hose but had a hard time staying healthy.

The Padres got him via trade in 2012 and in his three years in San Diego he continued to flash his power with a .251/.352/.464/.816 line, but he never played more than 86 games a year and last year managed only 50 games.  Quentin has one year left on his deal at a manageable $8M with a $3M buyout of a mutual option in 2016. All that may be moot according to John Heyman.

I take all of Heyman’s  insider info with two aspirin but time will tell. He doesn’t seem to fit the roster but maybe they can flip him to someone like Baltimore who needs a DH.
