A.J. Pierzynski gets the nod over Christian Bethancourt

When the Braves officially put out their roster for Wednesday game, I was stocked that Pierzynski was going to be starting at the catcher position instead of Bethancourt.

I took some time to think about this because I didn’t want to read to much into this. My thought process on this is – Fredi is planning on letting Pierzynski catch the fifth starter if it’s

Wandy Rodriguez

or

Eric Stults

because of being a veteran in the sport.

Instead of letting a young catcher try to make the calls for these guys, let’s let Pierzynski get some time since we have him.

No news about this from any sites that cover the Braves so I don’t think this is a discipline or any other issues.

Bethancourt should be on the field and behind the plate on Thursday.
