Jair Jurrjens Pitches Gem Against Colorado Rockies
By thelandryhat

Jair Jurrjens got some run support in a gem of a start against the Colorado Rockies tonight.
Casey Kotchman went 3-5, including a two-run double in the eighth, and Jurrjens pitched seven innings with eight strikeouts. The 8-1 win brings the Braves back to .500 for the year and in contention still in the division that no one is running away with early. Kelly Johnson went 3-4 in the game.
Mike Gonzalez closed the game with relative ease. The four-game series is tied 1-1. The Rockies didn’t hit after the fifth inning.
It looks like the Braves need to snag a power hitter before the trade deadline if they are going to compete for a division title. Javier Vasquez, Jurrjens and Derek Lowe seem to be a good three-man rotation. The Braves need to work on ensuring consistency in the bullpen if they are able to pick up a true power hitter for a run this year.
At 19-19, the Braves pretty much have played average baseball.
