Touki Toussaint

Like a lot of these players, I think Touki Toussaint can be a very good player at the Major League level.

But after a couple of failed attempts at the big league level with the Braves, it may be time for a change of scenery.

Toussaint had a terrible 2019 season with a 5.62 ERA in 41.2 innings with the Braves. But he was even worse at Triple-A with a 7.49 ERA in 39.2 innings.

He did maintain a K/9 over nine at both levels, but he really struggled with command issues and walked a ton of batters.

It’s also not very clear what Touki’s role will be going forward. Is it time to give up on him as a starter and try to make him a dynamic reliever?

He’ll turn 24 in June so it’s not like he’s getting old, and he’s still not arbitration-eligible so he’s cheap.

I think he gets another shot at starting at least to being the 2020 season. But if he can’t figure it out soon, I think it’s time they see if he can command his above-average stuff better as a reliever.

However, maybe another team wants to take a chance at fixing him as a starter.

I think this feels like a perfect opportunity for both parties to go their separate ways, and hopefully Touki can get a fresh start somewhere else.
