Trey Mancini

We actually had a couple of mock trades thrown out there for Baltimore Orioles outfielder Trey Mancini. And looking at the numbers, it makes a lot of sense.

First, let’s talk about the proposed package the Atlanta Braves would be sending to the Orioles.

I think this is a pretty fair package, but the Orioles would probably want an outfielder in return so I would maybe swap out Braden Shewmake with Greyson Jenista.

Again, another trade proposal that includes Write and Touki. Apparently Braves fans have seen enough of them. And I happen to agree, those are the pitching prospects they’ll look to move this offseason in any trade.

Now let’s talk about the 27-year-old (will play next season at 28) Trey Mancini who has quietly been a really good player for the Orioles.

He hit 24 home runs in both 2017 and 2018 and then, like most, he saw his home run total increase in 2019 to 35 to go along with 97 RBI, 106 runs, and a .291 average.

Certainly, he would add a lot of pop to the lineup, and he has a career average of .276 in just over 1,700 at-bats.

He’ll likely come with a high price tag as he’s under team control for three more seasons through arbitration.

However, with the Orioles going through the rebuild, and Mancini likely to get a huge spike in salary in his first year of arbitration, there is some motivation for them to move him.

I expect Mancini will be a name that gets tossed around a lot this offseason for teams looking for outfield help.
