More numbers, I know you like them

He’s a lefty swinger, but his splits won’t make him a platoon candidate, so he fits right in the spot vacated by Nick Markakis with one difference, he’s a 20+ home run bat… oh, and he might play left field with Acuna Jr moving to right.

Standard Batting
Year Age G PA AB R H 2B 3B HR
2015 23 122 474 453 60 121 18 15 13
2016 24 92 354 335 52 90 17 2 10
2017 25 151 589 542 79 157 33 2 27
2018 26 138 592 559 87 161 31 2 24

In 299 elevated leverage situations last season, Rosario hit .337/.366/.507/.873, hit ten home runs, drove in 56 and ended the season with a .369 wOBA and 133 wRC+ in those situations.

Rosario played every outfield position over the last four years in Minnesota but posted better numbers in left. Among qualified left fielders he ranked:

  • Third in RZR – .932  RZR
  • Fifth in DRS – 6
  • Sixth in UZR – 4.2
  • Tied with AL Gold Glove left fielder Alex Gordon for fifth in BP’s FRAA

In my view, he fits our needs well. He earns $5m next season and would be under Braves control through 2021.
