Xavier Cedeno – White Sox

Xavier Cedeno just missed my list of lefty relievers back in July.  Since then his ERA dropped by nearly a run and his FIP by half a run. He’s a well-traveled lefty who made his Major League debut with Houston in 2011, joined the Nationals in 2013, moved to the Rays midyear 2015, signed with the White Sox last January.

This season he joined the Pale Hose in June and appeared in 29 games, thrown 22 1/3 innings struck out 26 and walked 13.  He’s shown no significant L/R split this year though he strikes out more left-handed hitters than righties.

Cedeno still falls towards the bottom of my July lefty list but he’s still a solid option and may be the only one of that group actually available now.

[ ed. note:  unrelated, but maybe the Braves could pick him up by this coming weekend… his 32nd birthday happens on Sunday. ]
